Raising Kids to be Entrepreneurs

This Ted.com video by Cameron Herold is an eye-opening, refreshing look at how some of the classic  trouble-making kids in school are actually exhibiting entrepreneurial genius. He makes a great case for nurturing that spirit, and turning the kids into success stories instead of dumbing them down, or even drugging them, to force them to fit into the system.

Yaro Starak – The Pillar Article, How to Write Great Blog Content

Yaro StarakThis is the complete article by Yaro Starak about how to write Pillar Articles for your blog…

I was writing an article the other day and I needed a reference to what is good blog content. I realized despite being (I think) the blogger to coin the phrase “Pillar Article” I’ve never actually published a definition of it to my blog. Time for that to change.

The below is my definition and examples of the Pillar Format, taken directly from the Blog Profits Blueprint. This is based on my original thinking of what goes into making good blog content.

The concept was first used in a guest post on Problogger back in February 2006, where I suggested the following tip for finding more blog readers – Read more »

Alltop.com – Fast and Easy Information Source

Alltop.comResearching information on your special area of interest can quickly get overwhelming. And RSS feeds are great, but interfaces like Google Reader are cumbersome to use. Alltop.com is a Guy Kawasaki creation that has developed into a tremendously rich, easy information source for almost any area of interest.

The site sorts hundreds of blogs into various categories, then lists the five most recent headlines for each site. Mouse over the headline to read the first paragraph of the entry. Then click on it to be swept away to the blog where you can read the whole article.

Two key benefits of this site:

1. The layout makes it easy to scan a lot of information very quickly.

2. The information is well sorted and organized making it useful for discovering new blogs and authors that might get buried in search engine results.

Bonus benefit: Totally free information, and you can create your own customized page that lists your favorites.

This is a great resource for bloggers, researchers, and authors. Just don’t get lost there for too long…a certain chimp I know only slept three hours last night after discovering this site!

Google Goats are Back – wait, Goats?

Google Goats

Is this what real Tech Crunch looks like?

Straight from the Google Blog: Word is that the Google Goats have returned for another round of clearing the grass outside the HQ in Mountain View. It’s a strange solution for mowing a field, but I bet it makes for a very entertaining coffee break view. If your site isn’t getting listed, maybe it’s because the whole Google staff is watching the goats.
